The other day on my hunt to find custard powder (FYI its just cornstarch and salt!) I realized that I have been living on my own for over five years! Omg. Yeah, I know its not THAT long. But I feels like it. So I got thinking, what have I really learned in that time that if I had stayed at home I might not know now?
1. Read the label. Seriously. I'm putting WHAT into my body? I can't even begin to tell you the list of foods I've stopped eating because of the list of ingredients.
2. You are in charge of your own happiness. If you wait for someone else to make you happy, you'll be miserable forever (been there, done that).
3. Have goals. Nobody likes anyone who is essentially going no where.
4. Be prepared for disappointment. Everyone will do it, probably even more than once.
5. Always have at least a couple recipes you know and can make by heart. Trust me. You never know when you'll get unexpected company.
6. Dishes don't do themselves. No matter how much to hint to your significant other, it just doesn't happen.
7. If you call in sick, be prepared for the consequences. Especially if you lied about it.
8. Always keep your word. If your going to do something, do it! This is partially tied with the disappointment thing.
9. Take care of your body. Through health, fitness and diet. If you don't, you're really just wasting time and money. And not only just your own, but also doctors, and other people that potentially are worse off than you.
10. Have a back up plan. And be able to follow through without "leaning" on others.
My list has made me wonder, what have other people learned that I still have yet to?
